American Tall Clock – Attrib to Daniel Porter Williamstown MA ca1793

Category: Tag:

Early American tall clock made by Daniel Porter of Williamstown, MA  This is an attribution and we feel very confident of the veracity based on research into the literature; and the “good word” of folks more knowledgeable.  Daniel Porter was born in 1775 and started  making clocks in Williamstown in 1793.

The case is constructed primarily of mahogany and has a very rich patins.  There  are inlays on the crest and elsewhere just above the throat door.  We feel the brass finils on the top are replacements.  The most regrettable side of the story is that the face has been repainted, but save this repaint the clock is just wonderful. condition.

Overall Height: 95″
